So when you stare and point and give my dog the gas face because he is a pit bull wearing a muzzle, I know that is what you’re doing. You are maybe too busy gawking at my dog to notice, but my face involuntarily becomes a mirror of yours: whatever horror, revulsion, anger or judgment you’re shooting at Piney is reflected right back at you.
To those of you who look at my dog and smile—that goes for you, too. And: thank you. I needed that.

dear piney's human,
i don't know you because you are very far away. but it sounds like you are doing your best to make piney a good dog so you should be proud of that.
there are lots of 'orrible people where i live too. i think they may be everywhere.
also, if piney wears a muzzle, who's ever going to see what a sweet face he has? and he really, really does have one.
xox
who are these people who make mean faces at a DOG?
People make judgments so quickly now. Anyone who scowls at a dog doesn't have a soul.
